Berks data center announces expanded agreement with IT services provider

Direct LTx, a local data center service provider, has announced an expanded multi-year agreement for colocation data center services and interconnection with Grace Computers, an IT services provider.

Grace Computers is one of 40 organizations that use Direct LTx, which has a facility in Bern Township, to host the IT infrastructure that forms the backbone of its websites and technology operations, Direct LTx officials told MediaNews Group.

“Our customers’ evolving technology requirements have driven Grace Computers’ growth arc, with cloud and AI accelerating that further,” Jeffrey Cummings, owner and president of Grace Computers, said in a press release Nov. 19.  “With our re-focus to managed services and increased demand, it is more important than ever for our team to be working directly with customers instead of fighting traffic on the way to the data center.”

Cummings said the company has had a positive experience leveraging the security, uptime, and connectivity of Direct LTx on behalf of customers.

“Focusing our infrastructure expansion in their world-class data center is the best option for Grace and the customers, fueling our growth here in the Philadelphia market and throughout Pennsylvania,” Cummings said.

“We are thrilled that after a thorough review of all available data center options Grace Computers elected to grow their relationship with Direct LTx,” said Todd Taylor, chief executive officer, Direct LTx.  “We serve an array of both large enterprises and local businesses here at Direct LTx and particularly appreciate the experience of growing together with service-and-relationship-driven Pennsylvania technology leaders like Grace.”

Direct LTx offers data center, interconnection, and private cloud options to provide customers with the flexibility and scale to meet their IT growth needs, the release said.

The Direct LTx data center in Reading was designed to support high-density, cloud-adjacent, secure data center deployments for large enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses, and government agencies alike.

The company was acquired by Albert and Eunice Boscov in 2005 with the goal of leveraging its high tech infrastructure to attract and retain high paying jobs to Berks County.

The Boscovs invested more than $20 million in upgrading the mechanical and electrical equipment at Direct LTx to allow state of the art, high availability data center operations.

The company remains under the ownership of the Boscov family.
