Pottstown-area police plan DUI checkpoint during Thanksgiving holiday

Pottstown-area police plan DUI checkpoint during Thanksgiving holiday

The police departments in the Pottstown area are planning to intensify their efforts to enforce DUI and alcohol-related crimes.

Law enforcement will be out over the Thanksgiving holiday period, enforcing driving under the influence laws. Police plan to reduce the number of DUI-related accidents by deterring potential drunk drivers.

Thanksgiving is considered a family holiday and begins the traditional holiday season which continues through New Year’s Day for many people. It is also one of the deadliest times on our roadways because of impaired drivers. Thanksgiving ranks highest for DUI crashes of all major holiday periods.

The enforcement team, commonly known as “Team DUI” will apply ample enforcement of all liquor law violations. This will address the problems of underage consumption, along with the purchase of alcohol by minors.

If you will be consuming alcoholic beverages at a family gathering or holiday party never get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol. Make arrangements in advance, plan to stay over or have a designated driver.
