Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Powers said speed was likely a factor in the single-car accident, but added that authorities would continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
The vehicle’s occupants were returning from an “event” around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday local time, but Powers did not provide additional details.
A person who also attended the event and was driving a separate car was able to pull the surviving victim out of the Tesla.
Commander refused Police Disclosing the identity details of the victims out of respect for the families’ privacy.
