Complaint details info after North Carolina law firm closes, clients don't hear from lawyer

WILSON, N.C. (WNCN) — CBS 17 has obtained a copy of a complaint filed with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office about the Arreola Law Office in Wilson.

District Attorney Jeffrey Marsigli also confirms his office is aware of the situation, was contacted by law enforcement and there is an active investigation.

A copy of the complaint, dated October 10, made by someone saying they paid $3,000 to the Arreola Law Office for immigration services, says they tried to contact Juan Arreola. The complaint says in part; “for almost two years he has not resolved REDACTED case and for more than 4 months I have not had any communication with him and he does not answer my calls and visits.”

According to an email included with the complaint, the person who sent it requested a “complete itemized statement and accounting of all services rendered, and a refund of any unused portion of the fee paid.”

An eviction notice remained on the door of the location of the now-closed Arreola Law Office in Historic Downtown Wilson.

Last week, CBS 17 spoke with several clients who say they paid the Arreola Law Office for legal services, some of which it completed, but now they cannot get in touch with its attorney, Juan Arreola.

Neither can CBS 17. Despite several attempts to reach him, we have not received a response.

The North Carolina Attorney General’s Office says it forwarded the complaint to the North Carolina State Bar.
