BOYERTOWN — A popular holiday tradition is on track to delight young and old this year, as the Colebrookdale Railroad’s Santa trains roll out starting the day after Thanksgiving.
Visitors can choose from child-oriented hour-long, day-time Santa’s Polar Bear Express trains or evening ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas trains. Pajamas are welcome on the ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas trains.
Enjoy cocoa and cookies before the ride, and, of course, a visit from Santa who brings a gift for every child. Children are encouraged to write their Christmas wishes to Santa and present it to him on board. The railroad prides itself on the amount of time Santa can spend with each child.
A limited number of two-hour Christmas excursions are also available on nights during the week.
Tickets are available at a variety of price points to suit every budget. First Class includes a complimentary drink and dessert in the most opulent cars; family class offers a holiday a-la-carte menu, and coach class features a walk-up bar for snacks and drinks.
New this year is the Christmas Shop, a yuletide treasure shop in a restored 1889 church across the street from the train yard.
Christmas trains run on various days from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. Also consider the Snowflake Special trains from Dec. 27 to 31, with all the beauty of the Christmas trains but with less hustle and bustle. The season closes with the sell-out New Year’s Eve Special Train on Dec. 31 departing at 10:30 p.m.
Most trains sell out well before departure days, so reservations are highly recommended. For tickets and additional details visit www.colebrookdalerailroad.com or call 610-367-0200.
