At least 1,650 applicants will share the €30 million allocated through the government’s energy and housing policy, which opened on November 21 and will run till January 1, 2025, or until the budget runs out, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Tuesday.
So far, 236 applications have been filed, of which 193 were made during the first two days of the plan.
Letymbiotis said each applicant could receive up to €32,000 to invest in existing houses by applying online at https://fundingapps.meci.gov.cy
Higher grants will be given to vulnerable people, those living in mountainous areas and refugee houses.
He said another housing plan for about 400 young people and couples up to the age of 41 was launched on November 15 and so far 119 applications had been filed. Eligible people can apply online until December 31 at www.housing.moi.gov.cy
A general housing plan is running till the end of December 2025 and the aim is to include up to 1,000 idle housing units. Applications can be submitted online at www.prositistegi.cy
The total budget of the government’s housing policy is €77 million, excluding the cost of building incentives.
Other plans already in motion are build-to-rent, revitalising mountainous and remote areas, student dormitories and subsidising building plots for low-income people.
