A 22-year-old police cadet died in a road accident in Nicosia, after he lost control of his motorbike and fell on to the pavement, police said on Saturday.
Costas Demetriou was driving his motorbike on Ayios Gennadios street in Archangelos, when under conditions that are still being investigated, he lost control of the vehicle.
He was hurled off the motorbike and fell on to the pavement.
An ambulance took Demetriou to Nicosia general hospital where he was pronounced dead. Traffic police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Demetriou joined the force as a cadet on November 27, 2023. In a statement, police expressed its deepest condolences to his family.
