The end of October is already here (yikes!) which could only mean one thing – Halloween is upon us. Although Halloween traditions have nothing Cypriot about them, the island has started to adopt this Western holiday and pumpkin-filled, skeleton-decorated and spider-sprinkled events and fiestas have popped up in recent years. You either love it or hate it and if you love it, a series of Halloween events is coming up this weekend for old and young to get into the spooky spirit of the season.
First up is the annual Halloween Family Festival taking place at Cyherbia Botanical Park this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. In decorated gardens and fields, you can visit the Witch’s Cottage, the pumpkin patch, play magical games, carve pumpkins, hunt dragon eggs in the maze and make potions.
A Halloween three-day weekend will also be held at the parking area of My Mall Limassol for the same three days with trick-or-treat activities, parrot shows, a fun fair, pumpkins to decorate and trampolines. The 7th Autumn Festival – Halloween Edition will last from 11am to 8pm.
In Nicosia, CVAR-Severis Foundation will also host Halloween shenanigans on Saturday, inviting children to explore some of the spooky stories that are hidden within the museum. Through games and theatre activities, children aged six to 12 will have a fun morning of Halloween-themed fun at the museum.
It is not just children who will get to enjoy Halloween though. Motion Comedy and Black Lemon TV host a Halloween Special stand-up comedy show in Nicosia next week. Held in Greek at Black Brick, comedians Constantinos Psillides, Hambis Damianou and Zacharias Zannetou will put on a unique comedy show. Come dressed up as the best Halloween outfit will win prizes.
