Raleigh non-profit providing 2,000 Thanksgiving meals to Asheville residents

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Now Serving has announced the distribution of 2,000 chef-prepared Thanksgiving meals to Asheville-area residents impacted by Hurricane Helene. The meals, prepared by chefs from The Scheffer Group’s Asheville restaurants, will be distributed by The Food Connection from November 25 to November 27.

Now Serving is a a Raleigh-based non-profit that serves to connect restaurants and caterers with community to provide full meals to neighbors in need. Operating primarily in the Triangle region of North Carolina, it expanded its network to Asheville in response to Hurricane Helene.

Greg Lowenhagen, Executive Director of Now Serving, shared in a statement: “After Helene’s devastating run through North Carolina, we went to work to help ease some of the burden. We forged a new partnership with The Scheffer Group restaurants and Food Connection to provide meals in Asheville.”

In addition to Thanksgiving meals, blankets and warm clothes will be available to residents. Healthcare workers and first responders will also receive Thanksgiving meals.
