The Cyprus-Austria Business Forum was a success, with more than 60 bilateral meetings taking place, according to an announcement by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Keve).
Held on November 21 at the chamber’s headquarters in Nicosia, the forum “brought together professionals and officials from both countries for a successful day of networking and collaboration”.
The forum was inaugurated by Energy Minister George Papanastasiou, alongside Austria’s ambassador to Cyprus Susanne Bachfischer.
The event was organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE), acting as the coordinator of the Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus, in partnership with Advantage Austria, the Austrian Embassy in Cyprus, and the Cyprus–Austria Business Association.
The event was timed to coincide with the visit of a high-profile Austrian business delegation and saw more than 40 Cypriot companies taking part.
Moreover, the event featured presentations on topics critical to Cyprus and Austria’s economic and strategic interests.
According to the organisers, these included Cyprus’ energy strategy, focusing on the conversion of natural gas into electricity, the country’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as the commercial ties between Cyprus and Austria.
Discussions also explored equitable energy transition, opportunities for innovative Cypriot businesses, and advancements in information and communication technology (ICT).
The chamber said that “prominent professionals and technocrats participated in the sessions”, offering valuable insights into potential collaborations and the evolving business landscape in both countries.
A networking event followed the main forum, allowing Cypriot and Austrian companies to meet face-to-face for more in-depth discussions.
The chamber said that “over 60 bilateral business meetings were held at the Cyprus-Austria Business Forum,” fostering opportunities for future partnerships.
It further explained that “the meetings provided a platform for participants to delve deeper into potential collaborations across industries, laying the groundwork for stronger bilateral economic ties”.
