Residents face disruption to bin collections this week after a recycling lorry crashed.
Canterbury City Council has confirmed one of its vehicles was involved in a collision in Sturry yesterday.
In a statement about the incident, Chestfield Cllr Peter Old (Lib Dem), said: “There has been an accident involving one of Canenco’s recycling lorries.
“Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.”
His social media post adds some roads may not have had bins collected yesterday.
These include The Leas, Thornden Wood Road, Willow Way, Fairlawn, Green Leas, Willow Road, Broomfield Gate and Ridgeway.
“Crews are working to catch up,” his post added.
“Please leave your bins out.”
City council spokesman Rob Davies confirmed one of the authority’s vehicles operated by its in-house waste-management service crashed yesterday.
“One of Canenco’s smaller dustcarts that services narrow roads was involved in a minor accident in Bredlands Lane, Sturry, yesterday morning,” he said.
“We are pleased to say nobody was hurt.
“The vehicle will require repair which could take a few days, and that process is underway.
“It may cause an impact on recycling services because we do not have a ready supply of spare narrow-access vehicles. We are looking at options to hire one, but this may not be simple at short notice.
“The vehicle involved collects red bins (paper and card) and blue bins (glass, cans and plastics) at the same time, using split compartments.
“Residents on the narrow access rounds may therefore notice their different types of recycling are collected separately by different vehicles.
“There is no need for them to report that one type of recycling has been left behind because a second vehicle will be following afterwards.”
