An 84-year-old man involved in a road accident in Limassol is in hospital in serious condition on Friday.
The man was injured on Thursday morning around 11am while riding his motorcycle on Giannou Kranidiotis Street.
In circumstances under investigation, he collided with an articulated truck traveling in the same direction. The lorry driver left the scene and continued on his way.
Police secured testimony that the lorry driver was a 56-year-old Limassol resident and located the man.
He was given an alcotest with a zero reading, questioned in writing, and released to be summoned later.
The 84-year-old was initially taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where it was found that he had suffered broken ribs and vertebrae, bruised kidneys, and spleen and adrenal bleeding.
He was subsequently transferred to a private hospital in Limassol, where he was kept for treatment with his health condition described by doctors as serious.
Limassol traffic police are furthering the investigation.
