Family of missing man from Hoo Regan Phillips ‘trying to stay positive’ as police appeal for footage after disappearance from Strood

A missing man’s family says they are “trying to stay positive” as police appeal for dashcam and CCTV footage in their bid to find him.

Regan Phillips had been enjoying a night out with work colleagues in Rochester before he was last seen in Strood on Friday.

The 25-year-old had been captured on camera outside McDonald’s in Commercial Road.

Police now say he was last seen in Knight Road, near its junction with Priory Road, at about 11.40pm on Friday.

He had messaged his neighbour to say he would be back at his home in Hoo shortly after midnight – but he never returned.

The warehouse operative’s mum Julie Phillips gave an update to KentOnline this evening about the investigation, revealing his family has been out searching throughout the day.

“We are just keeping strong,” the 54-year-old said.

“Lots of people have shared information and are doing everything they can do.

“We are holding up but we are not sleeping.

“We are trying to stay positive but we have said as a family we don’t hold up much hope as it is out of character.”

Mrs Phillips said yesterday her son was “really excited” about going out with work friends to George Vaults in Rochester High Street that night.

“He messaged his neighbour to say he was going to be home at about 12.10am,” she said.

“He has never gone missing before and has always told us where he is going.

“It is out of character as he wouldn’t leave his dog as he lives alone.

“He wasn’t upset about anything, has a new job and he is so happy with his work.”

Julie says the former Howard School pupil’s phone was last turned on between 10am and 11am on Saturday but it is now turned off.

“He usually phones us almost every day when he is walking home from work,” she added.

“He is contacting his sisters constantly, so this is just not him.”

Police previously believed Regan was heading towards his home in Hoo on Friday night.

But in an update this evening, the force said he was last seen in Knight Road near its junction with Priory Road at about 11.40pm on Friday.

He is described as white, about 5ft 7ins, with short brown hair and goatee-shaped stubble.

Regan was wearing a long-sleeved, navy blue shirt, dark grey trousers, and brown shoes.

A police spokesman said: “Motorists with dashcams and residents or business owners with private CCTV, are asked to check for footage of Regan.”

Anyone with information that may assist the search should call 999, quoting reference 19-0911.
