Digital ministry dismisses cyberattack reports

Press reports that hackers are attacking websites in Cyprus to obtain access to sensitive information are not valid, the deputy ministry for research, innovation and digital policy said on Saturday.

The deputy ministry dismissed reports in Politis about the cyberattacks, which also claimed the hackers had got what they came for.

Friday’s cyberattacks were clearly distributed denial of service attacks and there had been no violation of the systems, the deputy ministry added.
