RODANTHE, N.C. (WAVY) — Another house in Rodanthe has collapsed into the ocean on the Outer Banks, temporarily closing off access to the beach as high winds and seemingly relentless high tides battered the area overnight and into Friday.
According to the National Park Service, during the overnight hours of Thursday and into Friday, an unoccupied house collapsed in the 23000 block of Surf Side Drive in Rodanthe, North Carolina. The beach in front of Rodanthe has been closed due to debris from the collapsed house.
Due to the ongoing severe weather conditions and closure of parts of NC 12, cleanup operations are limited.
In addition, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore is also monitoring the conditions of several threatened structures at G A Kohler Court and Sea Oats Drive.

Randy Miller of OBX Towing said even with pilings 50 to 60 feet in the ground, eventually, Mother Nature wins.
“It’s a common occurrence here,” said Randy Miller of OBX Towing. “We’ve already had three or four go into the ocean over the last few weeks.”
Overwash is expected to impact sections of NC 12 with Friday night’s high tide going into Saturday morning.
