A 30-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday, accused of having stolen a man’s wallet and using his credit cards to go on a shopping spree in Limassol.
The man, a 65-year-old tourist, had reported to the police on November 10 that his bag had been stolen from a beach, and that inside the bag was a wallet and a key card for the hotel room in which he was staying.
He said that when he returned to his room, a watch worth €20, a wallet containing €10, three credit cards, his identity card, and an electronic device had all gone missing.
He then attempted to cancel the bank cards and found that they had been used at four different shops in Limassol to buy a total of $266.99 (€253.11) worth of products.
The police determined that entry had been gained to his hotel room by using the key card which was stolen from the beach. Further investigations found evidence against the 30-year-old woman, who remains in custody.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
