Two arrested for theft in Paphos

Police arrested two men in Paphos on Thursday for an investigated case of theft, on the same day the crime had been reported.

The suspects, aged 26 and 50, were taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

According to the police, officers intercepted the men in their car, which was being driven by the 50-year-old, hours after the theft was reported.

Officers found tools in the car’s boot for which the 50-year-old could not give adequate explanation and he was arrested on the spot.

In a house search which followed in the presence of the 26-year-old, tools were also found, for which no satisfactory explanation as to their origin was provided and the younger man was also arrested, for possession of stolen property.

The complainant who had reported the theft subsequently identified some of the items.

Paphos police are furthering the investigation.
