Two suspects, aged 21 and 28, are expected to appear before a court at a date yet to be set in connection with the explosion of a bomb near a car belonging to a 78-year-old man in Limassol.
The 21-year-old was arrested late on Wednesday, followed shortly after by the 28-year-old, police said.
Both are believed to be involved in two separate arson cases targeting the same vehicle, one on July 28 and the other on October 13.
Investigations at the scene revealed that the fires had been deliberately set using flammable material.
On top of that, a 32-year-old was also arrested early on Wednesday for allegedly placing a bomb near the same car on October 3. The Limassol special anti-crime unit searched the suspect’s home and a storage facility, where they found two guns, ammunition, automatic weapon magazines and 20 boxes of fireworks and firecrackers.
Additionally, a van and a high-capacity motorcycle belonging to the suspect were seized under a court warrant.
In connection with the bomb explosion case, the police had also previously arrested a 47-year-old woman, who is believed to have had financial disputes with the victim.
