Work in Progress Festival: 10 days around Nicosia

Work in Progress Festival: 10 days around Nicosia

In its fourth edition this October, WIP Festival brings an agenda of workshops, talks, performances, parties with DJs and street food, installations and art exhibitions to the heart of Nicosia. Organised by CYENS Centre of Excellence and esteemed collaborators, the festival is a meeting point for scientists and creatives experimenting at the intersection of arts, science and technology.

Kicking off this Friday and lasting until October 27, the festival will stretch out throughout the old town, connecting different points of the city. The events will take place at CYENS Agora, Stoa (Thinker Maker Space), TMS Wood & Metal Workshop, the Dimarchou Lellou Demetriadi Square and Theatro Polis.

A rich programme has been planned (and can be found on the official website) with four workshops, seven talks and performative presentations, screenings, six performances and live DJ sets. In total, over 45 artworks and projects will be presented throughout the ten days of the festival.

“As stated by its name,” explain organisers, “WIP festival embraces the notion that both art and research are a Work in Progress. As such, it features a programme of workshops, discussions, and presentations that focus on the creative processes. Effectively, the works on display are considered as in-process products open to an active engagement between the observer and the creator and encouraging a dialogue on the impact of technology on our society and contemporary culture.”
