$1.3M in state grants to help Pennsburg and Schwenksville projects

HARRISBURG — More than $1.3 million in state funding will help two projects in the Perkiomen and Upper Perkiomen valleys.

Pennsburg Borough was awarded $847,850 to renovate the current borough hall and adjacent public works garage.

Borough hall renovations include roof repair and replacement, window replacement and improved exterior lighting. Improvements to the garage include new overhead doors and openers, new gas overhead heating, a new interior office with a break room, storage room, office and restroom, and the construction of a new salt shed.

Pugliese Brothers Inc. was awarded $500,000 to transform the historic Old National Bank of Schwenksville into a multipurpose retail campus. Key components include the restoration of the existing structure to preserve its architectural heritage, as well as the construction of an addition. The interior will be renovated to accommodate a restaurant/brewpub and a coffee shop.
