Man in critical condition after car accident

A 39-year-old man is in critical condition and on a ventilator in the intensive care unit of the Nicosia general hospital following a collision with a car driven by a 34-year-old woman on Monday.

According to a police statement, the accident occurred at around 2.20pm on Nikandrou Papamina avenue in Nicosia. Under circumstances still under investigation, the man’s vehicle collided with the woman’s car.

Following the crash, the 39-year-old’s vehicle caught fire, which was quickly extinguished by the Fire Service.

Both drivers were taken to hospital by ambulance. The 34-year-old woman was treated and discharged, while the 39-year-old underwent surgery and remains in the ICU on a ventilator.

Doctors have described his condition as critical.
