A 62-year-old British tourist died on Monday while swimming in Peyia, Paphos.
Police said people accompanying the tourist lost sight of him and he was later carried out of the water by nearby beachgoers.
He was given first aid and taken by ambulance to Paphos general hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
The exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
