CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Multiple emergency units are responding to a 2-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon in northeast Charlotte.
At approximately 3:01 p.m., Charlotte Fire responded to a large fire in the 200 block of E. 28th Street, just outside of uptown. Crews arrived on the scene within three minutes to find a large pile of debris engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke extending towards a nearby building.
Despite challenging conditions with the thick smoke in the area, crews were able to contain the fire’s spread.
At 3:08 p.m., another alarm was struck, bringing additional engines to the scene. Once the fire was contained, heavy machinery was used to move and separate sections of the debris pile. At 4:34 p.m., the fire was officially brought under control.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The fire remains under investigation as they work to determine was caused the large blaze.
