Paphos police warn of road closures ahead of Med9 summit

Paphos police warn of road closures ahead of Med9 summit

Police in Paphos on Thursday warned that roads will be closed on Friday due to the holding of the summit of the ‘Med9’ – a collective of the European Union’s eight Mediterranean member states and Portugal – in the town.

Roads will be closed between Paphos airport and the Minthis resort at various points during the day, with Minthis avenue to be completely closed between 6am and 10pm.

As such, the police advised residents of the villages of Tsada, Kallepia, Letymbou, Episkopi Paphou, and Marathounta to avoid using the road.

Additionally, they said road users are “requested to strictly follow the instructions of the police on duty who will be in the area”.

The Med9 leaders’ summit in Paphos will be the first of Cyprus’ presidency of the group and the second to ever be held in Cyprus, with the heads of government of Greece, France, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, and Portugal all set to descend on the island.

King Abdullah II of Jordan is also set to attend the meeting.
