After signing the licensing contracts today, all mobile companies operating in the Egyptian market now have a 5G license, after Telecom Egypt had previously obtained it at the beginning of this year.
The duration of the new licenses is 15 years for each company, and the companies pay for the license in foreign currency, and they will not obtain new frequencies to operate the service, provided that they are made available on the current frequency capacities.
Talaat said that the launch of the fifth generation represents a qualitative shift in Egypt to support all services, all elements of voice services, and various sectors, such as smart cities, the logistical and agricultural sectors, and the medical sectors, all sectors that benefit citizens, according to what was reported by the Middle East News Agency.
He added that signing the second batch of fifth generation licenses for mobile companies represents the introduction of fifth generation services in Egypt, adding that fifth generation includes many medical and agricultural services that contribute to achieving Egypt’s 2030 vision for sustainable development.
