Three teenagers remanded for series of Nicosia burglaries

Police on Monday remanded three teenagers in connection with a series of burglaries and thefts in Nicosia in recent weeks for eight days.

According to a police statement, the suspects, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, are currently being held in custody.

The three were linked to burglaries at a supermarket and a fruit shop in Aglandja. Warrants for their arrest were issued, leading to the arrests of two suspects on Sunday afternoon.

The third suspect was arrested later the same day. In addition to the burglaries in Aglandja, police are investigating the suspects’ involvement in three other cases, including break-ins at a café, another fruit shop, and a souvenir shop.

The first reported burglary occurred on June 8 at a café in Lakatamia, where cash, goods, and a tablet were stolen. A second burglary took place between August 15 and 16 at a fruit shop in Ayios Dhometios, with money and food stolen.

The two Aglandja break-ins occurred between September 24 and 25 at a supermarket, and between October 5 and 6 at a fruit shop. The supermarket reported the theft of tobacco products, while the fruit shop reported the theft of cash, phone cards, and more tobacco.

The final burglary at the souvenir shop in old Nicosia, occurred between October 3 and 4, with a reported theft of cash and goods.
