In a joint statement, member states of the 32-nation military alliance warned that “deepening military cooperation” between Russia North Korea “severely impacts Euro-Atlantic security, with consequences also for the Indo-Pacific region.”
And upheld Australia Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Ukraine also made a NATO statement.
Secretary-General L. saidNATO Mark Rutte said in late October that North Korean forces had been sent to Russia and that North Korean military units had been deployed in Kursk region.
The Ukrainian president said Volodymyr ZelenskyOn Thursday, after a meeting with Rutte, he said, “There is a need for a more decisive response from Western countries to the new role of North Korea in the war between Russia and Ukraine.”
Reuters quoted American officials as saying that North Korean forces participated in combat operations in the Kursk region in the past few days for the first time.
One of the officials said that those forces participated in the fighting on November 4, without mentioning whether there were any casualties among the North Korean forces or details about the nature of the fighting.
