A man has been charged following a reported seafront assault which left the victim critically injured.
Peter Smith, of no fixed address, was arrested three-and-a-half hours after the reported attack in Ramsgate yesterday.
Just after 1am, police and ambulance crews were called to Harbour Street to reports a man had been assaulted.
He was taken to a London hospital where he remains.
A police spokesman added: “Enquiries at the scene led to a man being arrested at around 4.30am that morning.
“Peter Smith, of no fixed address, has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
“The 43-year-old is due to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court today.”
