According to industry data, the total exports of the five Korean auto companies, namely Hyundai Motor, Kia, General Motors Korea, KG Mobility, and Renault Korea Motors, 1,857,111 units during the period from January to August.
Of these cars, 61.4 percent, or 1,140,73 units, were shipped to North America; Exports to the region increased by 15.9 percent compared to 983,321 units during the same period last year.
Total exports amounted to US 970 thousand and 66 units, which represents nearly half of the total South Korean car exports during the mentioned period.
Exports to the United States recorded an increase of 18.7 percent on an annual basis during the aforementioned period. At the same time, exports to other regions recorded significant declines compared to last year.
