NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County government website resumed operations early Friday morning after an outage that lasted nearly 12 hours.
Montgomery County officials took to social media, posting around 4 p.m. Thursday to alert area residents they were “experiencing an internet outage across our county facilities.”
“This is part of a broader regional disruption that has also impacted our website,” the post states.
Crown Castle, of Houston Texas, the county’s “fiber provider, had an issue,” said Montgomery County Communications Director Megan Alt, who added the website was down due to the widespread outage, which impacted the internet in county facilities.
Area residents were encouraged to call departmental offices directly with questions. It’s unclear how many calls were received. The Facebook post received 26 reactions, eight comments and was shared nine times. The technology was later restored around 3 a.m. Friday, Alt said.
