Egypt and Eritrea discuss political and security developments in the region

This came during the visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister and the head of the General Intelligence Service to the Eritrean capital, Asmara, where they met with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and conveyed a message from the Egyptian President. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi The meeting with the Eritrean President discussed ways to support and develop bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, in addition to following up on political and security developments in the region.

According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the two Egyptian officials listened to President Afwerki’s vision regarding developments in the situation in Red SeaIn light of the importance of providing favourable conditions for restoring normal maritime navigation and international trade through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, as well as developments in the Horn of Africa and the challenges facing the region, and ways to enhance security and stability there.
