Exhibition presents Reflections of Paphos communities

A new exhibition is about to open in Paphos as the Petrideion Foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Marking three decades since it first started its operations in 1994, the foundation will host a group exhibition this October at the Old Powerhouse Cultural Centre. Titled Reflections of a Community, the exhibition is set to open on October 12.

A group of local artists will take part in the showcase, 21 to be exact (Achilleas Christou, Christos Christou, Rafaella Constantinou, Abi Daker, Aristotelis Demetriou, Yiannos Economou, Sergis Hadjiadamos, Yiota Ioannidou, Ioanna Ioannou, Arsenty Lysenkov, Marina Kotidze, Anastasia Krivenko,Elli Lestas, Iryna Manukovska, George Mavrou, Miriam McConnon, Fotini Michailidi, Peter Moore, Haris Paspallis, Rinos Stefani and Susan Vargas).

“The artists were asked to explore the concept of place and way of life in Paphos, beyond conventional representations,” say organisers, “through narrative and symbolic interpretations. The exhibition maps the community as an internal and mental landscape, encouraging public interaction.”

Curated by Yiannis Sakellis and held under the auspices of Mayor Phedonas Phedonos, the exhibition will run until October 20.
