Dubai Municipality has set 17 requirements for the trading of health supplements in the emirate, as part of the technical guidelines manual on the commitment of consumer products trading establishments, which it recently issued. The manual was prepared with the aim of ensuring and strengthening the institutions related to the controls and requirements approved by Dubai Municipality, achieving a high level of health and safety in the built environment, and enabling it to monitor the extent of compliance with those controls and requirements.

The requirements for health supplements include: trading registered health supplements, that the health supplement identification card be in compliance with the applicable UAE standard specifications, that health supplements not be traded with misleading or inappropriate data, that the trade name or product name data be available in an appropriate manner and in compliance with the health supplement, that the country of origin data be available in an appropriate manner, that the factory details data be available in an appropriate manner, and that the total weight, volume or quantity data be available and in compliance with the health supplement.

The requirements also included the necessity of providing data on the instructions for use or the daily dose and warnings in an appropriate manner, and that storage conditions be provided in an appropriate manner, and the data on the product’s distinctive barcode or serial number and batch number in an appropriate manner that matches the health supplement, and the necessity of providing validity data such as the production and expiration date and the validity period after opening.

The product’s ingredient data is appropriate and consistent with the health supplement, and the claims, images, illustrations and language are consistent with the social customs and prevailing values ​​of the health supplement, and there are no easily removable or temporary labels on the product or no identification card for the health supplement, and there is no circulation of unauthorized, prohibited or laboratory failed health supplements, and there is no circulation of misleading or inappropriate data in the means of display attached to the health supplement.
