UAE national banks have boosted their attractiveness for deposits during the first half of this year, attracting new deposits worth AED 148 billion, raising the total balance from AED 2.230 trillion at the end of last year to AED 2.378 trillion at the end of last June.
Indicators from the Central Bank showed that Emirati banks added 200 billion dirhams to their asset portfolio during the first six months of this year, raising their total cumulative balance from 3.6 trillion dirhams at the end of 2023 to 3.8 trillion dirhams by mid-year.
UAE banks’ investments also increased by AED 42 billion during the six months, from AED 589 billion to AED 631 billion.
On the other hand, national banks increased the volume of credit granted by them by nearly 100 billion dirhams during the first half of the year, so that the cumulative balance rose from 1.82 trillion dirhams at the end of 2023 to 1.91 trillion in the middle of this year.
